Film coatings are mostly used to protect surfaces or objects, so the film itself must have certain properties to meet requirements such as good tensile strength or elongation at break. The film often requires additional coating to ensure the requirements are satisfied.
Solvent-containing paints are used during the coating of metal coils and the production of metal packaging (cans and tubes). These VOC are released during the application of the paint, the drying process or at the intermediate stations.
Dürr LTB Ecopure® RTO regenerative thermal oxidiser technology can be used to control the VOC emissions whilst the excess heat produced can be recovered via thermal oil or hot water or hot air heat exchanger units and redirected to the process and reduce the need for additional fuel energy.
